Summary
Mangastream offers many features that make the reading and browsing experience smooth and easy, which the users enjoy. The site may not operate anymore, but many manga streaming platforms can be your alternative.
But there’s also something about Mangastream that made its users stick and brought more new users throughout the years. Their features, such as web design, user interface, and visual quality of the manga contents, can be noted in how they operate consistently.
Mangastream is one of those sites where you can read manga for free. It has manga of different genres under the categories such as comedy, horror, drama, sci-fi, a slice of life, shounen, romance, action, adult, adventure, and more.
Based on its demographics, the manga site mostly has an audience aged 25-34 (30.01%), where 63.48% were male and 36.52% were female. The United States (28.71%) has brought the highest traffic volume to the site.
In case you didn’t know, Mangastream has stopped its operations since September 2020. Don’t worry because I’ll share some alternative manga streaming sites with similar features and interface as Mangastream. But first, let’s find out why Mangastream has been one of the most preferred manga sites for many years.
Why has Mangastream gained so much popularity?
Mangastream, like any other site that gives free access to manga, had become mainstream and had become one of the established manga sites worldwide. But its web design and user experience have gotten them the advantage over other sites.
Smooth and Interactive User Interface
Users enjoy an efficient layout, making it easy to search, filter, and browse manga using the search bar. The site has also arranged the manga based on their genres to navigate the different contents easily.
High-Quality Manga Print
A manga is composed of visual content, so it’s necessary to make the manga print high-quality, which the site consistently delivers to its users. The manga can also be downloaded, adding to the users’ great reading experience.
Few Interruptions
In addition to a great user experience, the site has managed to put out a few ads or pop-ups that eliminate many distractions and interruptions to your reading time.
Translated in Several Languages
The mangas are more accessible to many users since it’s been translated into French, English, Italian, and other languages.
Releases Latest Content
Users keep coming back for more, especially for ongoing series where you wait for its next chapter. Mangastream has been regularly updating to release the latest content.
Updates On Mangastream
Despite Mangastream’s popularity, the site went offline, as mentioned earlier, back in September 2020. It has also removed its tweets on its official Twitter account.
Like Mangastream, most manga streaming platforms aren’t asking the author’s permission to upload any of their works, which is illegal. This may have been one of the main reasons the site has been shut down.
But according to other sources, Mangastream did not clarify why it had shut the site down.
1. MangaDex
MangaDex has a lot to offer besides the original version of the manga. It also highlights other versions of the manga, such as:
✋ Stop worrying about SEO and have me do it for you
PS: Ready to work with the 0.01% of all SEOs worldwide? Click here.
- Colored version
- Official crossovers
- Fanfiction with their alternate endings that users can create
Users worldwide can enjoy the mangas since they’re translated into 20 languages, including Italian, French, Spanish, and German. The site has a community with smaller groups for specific categories of mangas the users can join in. For MangaDex to continue its operations, it asks for support from its users through Bitcoin donations.
2. Mangapark
Mangapark has already made a huge fan base because of its updated content and has the option for loading 10 images per chapter. This feature is very convenient if you don’t like loading every chapter page.
Since it’s consistent with being straightforward and focused on reading the manga right away, it doesn’t provide any summaries or story plots. But it will give you information such as the rating, genre, reading and following counts, and whether the manga has ongoing chapters or not.
You also don’t have to worry about interruptions since the site has no pop-ups, which is an added delight to your reading experience.
3. MangaFox
MangaFox is operated by fanfox.net, which should not be confused with the fake MangaFox site (Mangafox.online). However, other MangaFox websites are fake and have been on the top ranks on Google’s search results page.
The original MangaFox site has an orange theme with a sleek look. It’s also very user-friendly with a feature of adaptive zoom for a better reading experience. You can read manga on your phone using MangFox’s mobile app available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
4. Ten Manga
Ten Manga is very organized with its tailored home page featuring manga series on:
- Latest updates
- Newly-released
- Completed series
- Feature section of various manga series
The homepage also features the rankings for most viewed mangas daily, weekly, and monthly. You can see the main tab of the site, the Surprise tab, which will give a random top manga suggestion.
It’s a convenient feature, especially if you can’t decide for hours which manga you will read. But there are thousands of manga series to browse, and this feature can help you to come across different mangas and see where the Surprise tab takes you.
5. MangaOwl
MangaOwl has a wide selection of genres and a very organized homepage like Ten Manga. It has been tailored from what’s popular on that day, most viewed, to the latest manga series updates. Their star ratings and view counts are helpful for a quick review and overview of the manga series. Also, they included a feature called Top Night Owls that shows the user who’s reading the manga for most hours.
6. Manganelo
Manganelo’s user interface is great since everything on its homepage is organized and easy to navigate. Going through the pages loads fast and smoothly, especially when you go to the manga’s page with its overview, including the information on the following:
- Author
- Status: ongoing or completed
- Last date updated
- View counts
- Rating
- Plot description
The manga’s chapters also run smoothly, have very few ads, and have high-resolution content, which is why you’d likely stick around and use what the site offers. You can see on its website that it has changed its name from ‘Manganelo’ to ‘Manganato,’ so you won’t be confused and might think you’re on the wrong site.
7. Kissmanga
Kissmanga has a huge manga collection of over 100,000 yet still contains high-quality scans. The site will ensure you’d get the official latest release of the chapter of the manga series so you won’t miss out on the latest happenings.
Plus, you can get notifications from the latest update and the manga list for the new chapters released from the one you’ve been reading.
8. MangaReader
MangaReader has made its website similar to the user interface of Mangastream with its filter feature on its search box. The site makes navigating easier since users already know how Mangastream works.
Additionally, the site has a ‘Suprise Me’ tab for random suggestions of manga series. Although it may have its downsides, such as:
- Not user-friendly on mobile or tablet devices
- Ads take up too much space
9. MangaTown
MangaTown won’t require you to sign up or register for manga access. It has a huge collection of manga that dates back to 1999. The site has almost all the categories organized on its homepage with its Hot Manga Release, Featured Manga Release, and New Manga Release tabs.
Webtoons and Reverse Harem are rarely available here. There’s also no forum but a comment section where the manga readers discuss their opinions and exchange ideas.
Conclusion
There are many alternatives to Mangastream. You can check them out and see what suits your preferences when reading manga online. The sites almost have similar features and tailored homepages to make their user interface smooth for its users. These are the basic features users would go for to get a good reading and browsing experience.
Other manga sites give alternate endings to the manga series, have an adaptive zoom feature and mobile app, or have a random manga suggesting button. You’ll mostly go to sites depending on what feature you’re most likely to use.
