List of Top Guest Post Sites
Guest posting still builds real brand authority in 2026, but Google's link-spam updates have made low-quality paid placements a liability — focus on relevance, genuine editorial value, and brand-mention signals instead.

Why Quality Guest Posts Still Matter in 2026
Even as AI Overviews eat top-of-funnel clicks, guest posts on authoritative, relevant sites do three things that still matter:
- Direct referral traffic — readers who click through from a real editorial context convert better than cold organic traffic.
- Brand authority signal — being mentioned (even without a link) in content that AI engines index is how you get cited inside Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Google AI Overviews. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is increasingly built on brand mention density across trusted sources.
- Topical authority clustering — a guest post on a well-indexed site in your niche sends a relevance signal to Google’s topic model, which matters more than raw domain authority today.
What does not work: paying for placements on link farms, submitting the same 500-word article to 40 sites, or using AI-generated content that adds nothing new. Google’s spam detectors and AI-review quality raters have both caught up with those patterns.
Guest Posting — 2026 FAQ
Is guest posting still worth it after Google’s link-spam updates?
Yes — but only if the placement is editorially earned. A guest post on a relevant site where your byline makes sense, and where the content is genuinely useful to that audience, still drives referral traffic and builds brand authority. What’s risky is anything that looks paid, off-topic, or thin. When in doubt, ask: would this site publish a post that disagreed with me? If yes, it’s a real editorial outlet.
Does an unlinked brand mention help SEO?
Increasingly, yes — at least for GEO. AI engines like Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews pull from their training data and live index; a brand mentioned in multiple trusted sources is more likely to be cited in an AI answer, even without a direct link. For traditional PageRank, a link still matters. For building a presence in AI-generated answers, unlinked mentions in credible content count.
How do I find quality sites to guest post on besides yours?
Search site:domain.com "write for us" or "guest post guidelines" in your niche. Use Ahrefs or Semrush to check that the site has real organic traffic (not just a high DR from manipulated links). Prioritize sites where the existing guest posts are from real authors with a social presence — that signals genuine editorial review. Avoid any site that charges a fee for “editorial review” without disclosure; that’s paid placement and violates Google’s guidelines.
Should I use AI to write my guest post?
I’d caution against submitting AI-generated drafts as-is. The sites in my portfolio are read by real audiences, and I can tell the difference between a post that reflects actual experience and one that was assembled from patterns. Use AI to research, outline, and edit — but the examples, opinions, and lived experience need to be yours. That’s what makes a guest post worth reading, and worth ranking.

Updated for May 2026
SEO in 2026 is unrecognizable from the 2020-era playbook. Three shifts that matter for anything written before mid-2024:
- AI Overviews are the new SERP zero position. Google’s AI Overviews default to roughly 60% of US informational queries, eating most “what is” / “how to” CTR. Optimizing for citation inside the AI Overview is now as important as ranking #1.
- GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the working term for cross-engine optimization — getting cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini answers. ~12% of high-intent commercial queries in late 2025 sample studies showed a direct-citation flow from these engines (vs. zero pre-2023).
- E-E-A-T (now E^3-A-T, Experience + Expertise + Establishment + Authoritativeness + Trustworthiness) continues to be the framing Google uses internally — “Establishment” was the 2024 addition emphasizing brand-level signals.
Tool landscape (May 2026): Ahrefs and Semrush both shipped Generative Engine tracking. Surfer SEO + the Topical Authority crowd added GEO scoring. Screaming Frog still the standard crawler. AlsoAsked, Keyword Insights, and Frase shifted heavily into AI-Overview snippet engineering.
If this post predates May 2024, treat its core advice as the Google-search baseline and layer the GEO playbook on top.
