Ever wanted to download a Facebook video to your computer?
Here’s a quick and simple guide as to how to do it, without the need of downloading any random software.
I present you two ways:
- Using your browser (i.e. Chrome)
- Using FBdown.net (a bit easier)
As usual, if you find it useful drop a comment below and share it with a friend!
1. How to Download Facebook videos straight to your laptop without using any app or service
(Note the following instructions are for Chrome but are very similar for other browsers)
Here’s how to save those FB videos to your laptop or PC:
- Go to the post with the video you want to download
- Right click on the video and select “Copy video URL at current time”
- Paste the url into your browser address bar, it should look something like this: https://www.facebook.com/…/videos/12345…9/
- Change the “www.” to “m.” i.e. https://m.facebook.com/…/videos/12345…9/
- Hit enter
- Play the video
- Now you will need to open up the Developer Console (Alt Option + Cmd + J)
- Inspect the video element using the icon at the top left of the developer console (you can also toggle it by pressing Shift + Cmd + C
- Click on the video and you’ll see the a box on the developer console. Copy the video url and paste it in another tab. Hit enter.
- Finally, right click on that video and hit “Save video as”
- Name your video something exciting, sexy (or dumb), and hit enter.
As I mentioned, the Google Chrome instructions are very similar to the ones for Edge, Internet Explorer (you still using that?!), Opera and Firefox.
2. How to download videos from Facebook using FBdown.net
- Go to the post with the video you want to download
- Right click on the video and select “Copy video URL at current time”
- Go to FbDown.net
- Paste your link there and select the quality of download you need
- Finally, right click on that video and hit “Save video as”
- Name your video something exciting, sexy (or dumb), and hit enter.

Appreciate it ally! good luck with your kitchen blog!
Thanks for the information. I have actually tried it both ways. There is a substantial reduction in video quality after the download. This is possibly due to file format transfer. It is best to watch downloaded videos in small screen. Full screen enhances the distortion.
Many thanks. The fbdown.net works neatly.
