Free: 500 requests a month, no card. Paid: $9/mo after 30 days free.

You asked Claude Sample · numbers illustrative

“Who is beating me for my money keywords, and are they a stronger site?”

  1. 1 rank_tracker_competitors Ahrefs
  2. 2 domain_rating Ahrefs

Two competitors outrank you on 11 of your 20 tracked keywords. One has a Domain Rating of 71 against your 48, so that gap is authority.

The other is at 44, below you. Its pages are longer and newer, so that gap is content you can close.

Why use Ahrefs through SiteWide?

Ahrefs runs its own official MCP server, and if Ahrefs is all you need, use that. SiteWide is for asking questions that need Ahrefs and your own data: what Ahrefs says you rank for, next to what Search Console says you actually got clicked for.

The Ahrefs tools.

You never call them by name. Ask the question and Claude picks the tool.

All SiteWide tools →
  • domain_rating Included

Backlink-profile strength (0–100) for any public domain — yours or a competitor’s. Works out of the box, no Ahrefs account needed.

  • site_audit_issues Your own key

Crawl issues from your Ahrefs Site Audit project: health score, counts by severity, worst issues first. Needs your own Ahrefs key.

  • rank_tracker_overview Your own key

Keyword-level rankings from Rank Tracker: position, week-over-week change, volume, traffic, SERP features. Needs your own Ahrefs key.

  • rank_tracker_serp_overview Your own key

The full SERP for one tracked keyword — every competitor’s URL with its own DR, UR and traffic. Needs your own Ahrefs key.

  • rank_tracker_competitors Your own key

Competitive benchmarking against your tracked keyword set: stats, keyword overlap, top pages, top domains. Needs your own Ahrefs key.

  • keywords_explorer_overview Your own key

Volume, difficulty, CPC, traffic potential and search intent for any list of keywords — no project needed, so you can research a market you don’t rank in yet.

  • keywords_explorer_ideas Your own key

Keyword ideas from one seed: matching terms, related terms, or the questions people actually search.

  • site_explorer_metrics Your own key

Domain-level organic traffic, keyword count, backlinks and referring domains for any site — yours or a competitor’s.

  • site_explorer_organic_keywords Your own key

Every keyword a domain already ranks for, with position, volume, traffic and intent — unfiltered by anyone’s Rank Tracker setup.

  • site_explorer_referring_domains Your own key

Who actually links to a domain, with each linking site’s own strength — the report behind “how did they outrank us”.

  • ahrefs_create_project Your own key

Set up Rank Tracker yourself: create a project for your site. Idempotent — running it twice does nothing the second time.

  • ahrefs_add_keywords Your own key

Add keywords to a Rank Tracker project. Additive only — nothing here can delete your Ahrefs data.

Things to ask it.

Paste any of these into Claude once SiteWide is connected.

  • What’s the Domain Rating of these five competitors?
  • Which of my Site Audit issues affect pages that get traffic?
  • Find keywords my competitor ranks for that I don’t.
  • Add these 20 keywords to my Rank Tracker project.
  • Which referring domains link to them but not to me?

Connected in about a minute.

No Google Cloud project, no JSON key, nothing to install.

  2. Connect Ahrefs

Paste your Ahrefs API key on your account page. It needs a paid Ahrefs plan with API access (Lite and up, per Ahrefs). domain_rating works without one.

Questions about Ahrefs and AI.

Does Ahrefs have an official MCP server?
Yes, a hosted one, on Ahrefs paid plans. Use it if you only need Ahrefs. SiteWide makes sense when the question also needs your own Search Console, GA4 or Ads data.
Can it delete anything in Ahrefs?
No. It can create a Rank Tracker project and add keywords when you ask, and nothing it does can delete Ahrefs data.
Does it use my Ahrefs API units?
Yes. Calls run on your own key, so they count against your Ahrefs plan. SiteWide never uses its own key for you, except for Domain Rating.
Does it work with ChatGPT and Cursor?
Yes. Any client that supports remote MCP servers can connect: Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps, and Claude Code), ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor and others. Clients that support MCP’s OAuth sign in to your account; for one that doesn’t, create a token URL on your account page.
Can anyone else see my data?
No. Your account is scoped to your own sites, checked on every call. What the tools return goes straight to your assistant: it isn’t stored, sold or used to train AI models. The details are in the privacy policy.
What does it cost?
The free plan is 500 requests a month across every tool, with no card. The paid plan has no request limit and starts with 30 days free, then $9 a month at the launch price, which ends October 31, and $29 after that.
