SiteWide MCP Google Analytics

Google Analytics MCP: connect GA4 to Claude.

Ask Claude about users, sessions, channels, top pages and who’s on the site right now, straight from your GA4 property. Hosted, read-only, with one Google sign-in and no Google Cloud project.

Free: 500 requests a month, no card. Paid: $9/mo after 30 days free.

You asked Claude Sample · numbers illustrative

“Organic sessions are down this week. Which channel and which pages, and did Ads spend change too?”

  1. 1 ga4_report Google Analytics
  2. 2 ga4_ad_cost Google Ads via GA4

Organic Search is down 18% week over week, and four pages under /guides/ account for most of it. Direct and Referral held steady.

Paid spend didn’t move, so this isn’t traffic shifting to ads. Next step: check those four URLs in Search Console.

How do I connect Google Analytics to Claude?

Through an MCP server that reads the GA4 Data API. SiteWide is a hosted one: paste one URL into Claude’s Settings → Connectors, sign in with a Google account that can view the property, and Claude can run GA4 reports for you.

Google also publishes its own Google Analytics MCP server. It’s marked experimental and runs on your own computer in Python, with the Analytics Admin and Data APIs enabled in a Google Cloud project you set up. It’s a good choice if you want GA4 only, on one machine.

The Google Analytics tools.

You never call them by name. Ask the question and Claude picks the tool.

All SiteWide tools →
  • ga4_report Google sign-in

Active users, new users, sessions, engagement time, sessions by channel group, and top pages — with week-over-week deltas and Google Ads spend folded in on request.

  • ga4_realtime Google sign-in

Who is on the site right now, broken down by page, country, city, device, or platform.

  • ga4_tech Google sign-in

Which browsers, operating systems, versions and devices your visitors actually run — and what share of them fall below a version floor, so you know whether a modern CSS or JavaScript feature is safe to ship.

  • ga4_ad_cost Google sign-in

Google Ads spend, clicks, impressions and CPC by campaign, ad group, keyword, or search query — with a day/week/month time series.

Things to ask it.

Paste any of these into Claude once SiteWide is connected.

  • Which channels drove the most engaged sessions last month?
  • Compare this week to last week by landing page. What changed?
  • Who’s on the site right now, and on which pages?
  • What share of my visitors use Safari below version 17?
  • Which Google Ads campaigns brought sessions that never engaged?
  • Line up my organic traffic with Search Console clicks for the same pages.

Connected in about a minute.

No Google Cloud project, no JSON key, nothing to install.

SiteWide or the alternatives?

Google’s own GA4 server is free and does more GA4 reporting than SiteWide, including funnels. It runs on your machine, so it needs Python, a Google Cloud project and the gcloud CLI.

Questions about Google Analytics and AI.

Is there an official Google Analytics MCP server?
Yes. Google publishes one on GitHub (googleanalytics/google-analytics-mcp), labelled experimental. It runs locally in Python and authenticates through the gcloud CLI.
Can it change anything in my GA4 property?
No. SiteWide asks Google for read-only Analytics access. It can’t edit properties, events, audiences or users.
Why does Google show an “unverified app” warning?
Google classes Analytics access as a sensitive scope and reviews every app that asks for it. Until it finishes reviewing SiteWide, the consent screen shows that warning: click Advanced, then continue. Your data goes only to your own account either way.
Does it work with Universal Analytics?
No. Google has retired Universal Analytics, so SiteWide reads GA4 properties only.
What if I can’t sign in to the account that owns the property?
Ask the owner to add your own Google address as a Viewer in GA4, then connect with that address.
Does it work with ChatGPT and Cursor?
Yes. Any client that supports remote MCP servers can connect: Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps, and Claude Code), ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor and others. Clients that support MCP’s OAuth sign in to your account; for one that doesn’t, create a token URL on your account page.
Can anyone else see my data?
No. Your account is scoped to your own sites, checked on every call. What the tools return goes straight to your assistant: it isn’t stored, sold or used to train AI models. The details are in the privacy policy.
What does it cost?
The free plan is 500 requests a month across every tool, with no card. The paid plan has no request limit and starts with 30 days free, then $9 a month at the launch price, which ends October 31, and $29 after that.
