SiteWide MCP Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager MCP: audit your containers from Claude.

Ask Claude what’s wrong in your live Tag Manager container: duplicate GA4 config tags, tags with no trigger, unused triggers, paused tags and Custom HTML. Read-only, with one Google sign-in.

Free: 500 requests a month, no card. Paid: $9/mo after 30 days free.

You asked Claude Sample · numbers illustrative

“Is anything in my GTM container double-counting GA4?”

  1. 1 gtm_containers Tag Manager
  2. 2 gtm_audit Tag Manager

Yes. The live container has two GA4 configuration tags for the same measurement ID, both firing on All Pages, which can double your page views.

It also has 4 paused tags and 3 triggers nothing uses. Remove the second config tag first.

Can Claude read Google Tag Manager?

Yes, through MCP. SiteWide reads the published version of each container your Google login can see and audits it. It never publishes or edits anything.

The Tag Manager tools.

You never call them by name. Ask the question and Claude picks the tool.

  • gtm_audit

An audit of the live container: duplicate GA4 config tags, tags with no trigger, unused triggers, paused tags and Custom HTML. Read-only: it never publishes a change.

Things to ask it.

  • Which GTM container is live on each of my sites?

Questions about Tag Manager and AI.

Can it publish changes to my container?
No. SiteWide asks for read-only Tag Manager access and only reads the published version.
Can it tell me which tags fire on a page?
No. It reads the container’s configuration, not live page loads. Use Tag Assistant’s preview mode for that.
Does it work with ChatGPT and Cursor?
Yes. Any client that supports remote MCP servers can connect: Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps, and Claude Code), ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor and others. Clients that support MCP’s OAuth sign in to your account; for one that doesn’t, create a token URL on your account page.
Can anyone else see my data?
No. Your account is scoped to your own sites, checked on every call. What the tools return goes straight to your assistant: it isn’t stored, sold or used to train AI models. The details are in the privacy policy.
What does it cost?
The free plan is 500 requests a month across every tool, with no card. The paid plan has no request limit and starts with 30 days free, then $9 a month at the launch price, which ends October 31, and $29 after that.
