SiteWide MCP WordPress

WordPress MCP: let Claude write and edit your site.

Draft posts, rewrite a section of a page, add internal links, publish or schedule, and fix titles and meta descriptions, from Claude or ChatGPT. You see every change before it’s saved, and one call puts it back. Nothing to install on your site.

Free: 500 requests a month, no card. Paid: $9/mo after 30 days free.

You asked Claude Sample · numbers illustrative

“Which posts lost the most clicks this quarter and have a weak title? Fix the titles, but show me first.”

  1. 1 gsc_search_analytics Search Console
  2. 2 wp_propose_fixes WordPress

Eight posts lost more than a third of their clicks, and five of them have an SEO title Google cuts off. Here are five new titles, each under 60 characters, next to the current ones.

Nothing is saved yet. Say “apply” to save all five, or name the ones to skip. One call undoes it afterwards.

Can Claude edit my WordPress site?

Yes, through MCP. SiteWide connects to WordPress with an Application Password, so there’s no plugin to install. Once you switch writing on for a site, Claude can create drafts, edit a post’s body, add internal links, change a post’s title, slug, excerpt, categories, tags and featured image, upload images, publish or schedule, and fix SEO fields through Yoast or Rank Math.

Every change is a proposal first, shown as a before-and-after. Claude can only save a change you were shown, nothing deletes or trashes a post, and one call undoes any change for 180 days.

The WordPress tools.

You never call them by name. Ask the question and Claude picks the tool.

All SiteWide tools →
  • wp_propose_fixes Your own key

The preview step. Reads what is on the page now and hands back every change it would make as a before-and-after with an id — and changes nothing until you say so.

  • wp_apply_fixes Your own key

Applies any change you just reviewed — an SEO fix, a draft, a body edit, a link, a publish — by id. It cannot write anything that was not shown to you first, refuses if the page changed since, and records the old version on the way past.

  • wp_revert_fixes Your own key

Puts it back — an SEO field, a whole article body, a title or slug, a published post back to draft. Call it with an id to undo that change, or with nothing to see every change made so far — the undo log is browsable, not something you had to keep a receipt for.

  • wp_list_content Your own key

Which of your posts and pages have a missing, truncated or duplicated SEO title and description — the worklist the fixes come from.

  • wp_get_content Your own key

Everything currently set on one page — title, description, canonical, focus keyword, social fields, schema type — which of them are writable on your setup, and on request the article itself, block by block.

  • wp_propose_content_edit Your own key

Rewords part of an existing post or page, shown block by block as a before-and-after. Every block it does not touch stays exactly as it was — and a page built in Elementor or a similar builder is left alone, with the reason.

  • wp_propose_internal_link Your own key

Turns words already in one post into a link to another page on your site — after checking that page is live and the words are not already a link.

  • wp_propose_post_update Your own key

Changes a post’s title, slug, excerpt, categories, tags or featured image — and warns you when a new slug would move a live URL.

  • wp_propose_draft Your own key

Writes a new post or page as a draft, with its excerpt, categories, tags and SEO title and description. Always a draft: nothing goes live from here.

  • wp_propose_publish Your own key

Publishes a draft now or schedules it, as its own step with a pre-publish checklist — so nothing goes live by accident, and one call takes it back down.

  • wp_propose_media_upload Your own key

Adds an image from a link to your Media Library with alt text and a caption, and can make it the featured image.

  • wp_preflight Your own key

Is WordPress actually reachable, and if not, which plugin or host setting is in the way? Names the specific blocker — a security plugin, a stripped auth header, a cache serving you the old value back.

Things to ask it.

Paste any of these into Claude once SiteWide is connected.

  • Find my 5 posts that lost the most clicks this quarter and refresh each intro.
  • Turn this outline into a draft in my voice. Don’t publish it.
  • Add a link to /pricing/ from the three posts that mention pricing most.
  • Write meta descriptions for every post that lacks one. Show me first.
  • Schedule the draft “Q4 checklist” for Tuesday at 9am.
  • Undo the last batch of changes you made.

Connected in about a minute.

  2. Connect WordPress

On your account page, connect WordPress for each site: WordPress asks you to approve an Application Password in your admin. Claude can read straight away. To let it save changes, switch writing on for that site, separately.

SiteWide or the alternatives?

WordPress’s official MCP Adapter is a plugin that hands AI agents the abilities your site registers. None are public by default, so a developer decides what an agent may do. SiteWide needs no plugin, ships its editing tools ready to use, and brings your search data into the same chat.

Questions about WordPress and AI.

Can it rewrite my posts?
Yes, with your approval. Claude proposes targeted edits to the body, shown block by block as a before-and-after, and saves only what you approve. Blocks it wasn’t asked to change stay exactly as they were, and if the post changed since the proposal, the edit is refused.
Will it publish without asking?
No. New posts are always created as drafts. Publishing or scheduling is its own proposal, which you approve separately.
Is it safe to give an AI write access to WordPress?
The connector holds the line, so you’re not relying on the AI to. Writing is off until you switch it on for a site, Claude can only save a change it showed you first, nothing can delete or trash a post, and one call puts any change back. Connect an Editor account, not your admin login.
Does it work with Elementor or other page builders?
Partly. Bodies built with Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Oxygen, Brizy, Thrive or SiteOrigin are refused for body edits, because the builder keeps the real layout outside the text an edit would change. Their title, slug, excerpt, categories, tags, featured image and SEO fields can still be changed.
Which SEO plugins does it support?
Yoast and Rank Math. Both keep some of their fields out of WordPress’s REST API on a stock install; wp_preflight tells you which, and gives you the snippet that fixes it.
Why does it say it can’t reach my site?
Usually a security plugin blocking authenticated REST calls, a host stripping the authorization header, or a page cache. Ask Claude to run wp_preflight: it names which one, and the fix.
Does it work with ChatGPT and Cursor?
Yes. Any client that supports remote MCP servers can connect: Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps, and Claude Code), ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor and others. Clients that support MCP’s OAuth sign in to your account; for one that doesn’t, create a token URL on your account page.
Can anyone else see my data?
No. Your account is scoped to your own sites, checked on every call. What the tools return goes straight to your assistant: it isn’t stored, sold or used to train AI models. The details are in the privacy policy.
What does it cost?
The free plan is 500 requests a month across every tool, with no card. The paid plan has no request limit and starts with 30 days free, then $9 a month at the launch price, which ends October 31, and $29 after that.
